The Bronx Zoo houses over 600 species of animals on its 265 acres. Although its peak is during spring and summer, some of their exhibits are open year round, with the benefit of fewer people during the fall and winter. There are about a dozen exhibits at the Bronx Zoo, with seasonal special events, and a visit can last most of a day.

Some of the most popular attractions is the monorail that runs through the area of jungle animals in Asia, where you can see elephants, rhinos and tigers frolicking in natural outdoor habitats, the Butterfly Garden, where dozens of free-flying insects and perch on visitors, and exhibition of Madagascar, with different kinds of lemurs and giant cockroaches.

For fans of snakes and other exotic reptiles, World of Reptiles pythons and cobras can observe up to 6m long.

All subject areas have places to buy food and drinks, and the Zoo allows visitors to bring their own food and snacks and offers picnic areas to eat.

In addition to observing the animals, children and adults can ride the Carousel of Insects and enjoy a 4D movie of Dora the Explorer interactive special effects.

The basic admission ticket does not include access to some of the exhibits.
