The Museum of Modern Art in New York, known by its acronym MoMA was founded in 1929 with the purpose of promoting the style of Modern Art it had its beginnings in the European artistic currents of the late 19.
The Museum of Modern Art has an extensive collection of 150,000 works of art with the most representative works of important artists of the modern period to the present, including important works by Picasso, Matisse, Gauguin, Salvador Dali, Andy Warhol and Jackson Pollock and others.
In 2004, MoMA opened a new wing that doubled its exhibition space. The new building has six floors that include spaces for the permanent collection and temporary exhibitions on the 6th floor.
The permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art includes works by Picasso, Matisse, Gauguin, Van Gogh, Cezanne, Andy Warhol, Jasper Johns and Jackson Pollock among others. Besides painting, MoMA collection includes examples of photography, sculptures, furniture, architecture and mixed-media installations.
