High Line Linear Park New York

Since opening its first section in 2009, the High Line has become one of the favorite parks in New York, where on a Sunday afternoon you can find families buying ice cream from street vendors, tourists taking pictures of plants, public art installations and buildings in the Meatpacking District, and area residents sunbathing and reading the Sunday papers on the benches and tables that line the main trail.

This linear park stretches from Gansevoort Street to 30th Street along the 10th Avenue. Originally was used as a means of service for freight trains carrying materials to the former industrial district of the island of Manhattan.

In the decade of 1990, the city plans to demolish the high infrastructure prompted the creation of the group “Friends of the High Line,” who promoted the idea of ​​turning it in a public space.
